Chinese embassies abroad temporarily reduce visa fees to 75 percent

From Dec. 11, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2024, Chinese embassies and consulates abroad will implement a temporary measure, reducing visa fees to 75 percent of the current rates.

Citizens of these 12 countries are able to enter China without a visa and stay for up until 15 days

It has become a lot easier for foreigners to visit China. Under an experimental visa-free entry policy effective from Dec 1,2023, to Nov 30, 2024, passport holders from Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Luxemburg, Hungary, Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands, and Malaysia are now entitled to visa-free travel to China for up to 15 days.

China resumes 15-day visa-free travel for citizens of Singapore and Brunei

From July 26, 2023 citizens of Singapore and Brunei holding passports will be able to enter China without a visa for 15 days for business, tourism, family visits and transit.

From February 9, 2024 Singapore citizens are able to stay in China for 30 days.

For citizens of other countries, visas are still required to enter mainland China.

For a visa application from the European Union, the following documents are usually required:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • Completed visa application form
  • One passport photograph
  • Airline ticket (round trip) or the itinerary
  • Official Chinese hotel confirmation letter
  • Invitation letter (original only)

The homepage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China at www.fmprc.gov.cn/eng/ (Missions Overseas => Chinese Embassies) features a link to your country's embassy where you can download and print the visa application form and get additional information on the application procedure.

Attention:
We strongly recommend submitting your application more than a month before leaving. Besides, an official invitation letter is necessary for foreigners to apply for a visa to China based on the current policy.

Please contact us if you need an invitation letter – it will be provided free of charge by our office in Shanghai.
